F.A.T. Podcast Episode 69 – Cocktail Revival – Smoke and Honey

This episode is brought to you by Phrank.ly. Phrankly is working to make sourcing and distribution for restaurants, farms and speciality goods more transparent and change the way people find their food.

On this episode of the Food About Town podcast, it is time for the 4th annual Rochester Cocktail Revival and we talked about some of the great events coming up next week. Mainly we focused on a fantastic event called Smoke and Honey featuring the upcoming Bitter Honey and Fairport’s own Iron Smoke Distilling. The event will be held on Thursday May 4th from 6pm – 11pm across the street from the new Bitter Honey at 127 Railroad Street near the Public Market. See you there!

Zack Mikida from Bitter Honey talked Sarah Peterson from Iron Smoke and I through his trips to Mexico where he learned about the process of making mezcal. Zack has fully committed himself to learning about this agave spirit and the new restaurant will feature hundreds of versions for Rochester to try. I’m really glad Zack explained to us about it and I’m excited to see what he has in store for us.

Sarah talked us through the beginnings of Iron Smoke Whiskey and was nice enough to bring Batch 11 over for us to sample during hr podcast. I loved hearing about their process and the new batch is the best I’ve tried from them so far. Make sure to pick up a bottle once it comes out on the shelves in Rochester!

I also learned something about owner Tommy Brunett as well and you’ll have to listen to hear that one!

Thanks to both Zack and Sarah for taking time in the busy run up to the Rochester Cocktail Revival to talk with me and I hope you enjoy the talk as much as I did. If you want to check out more from the RCR, I’d recommend visiting the Grand Tasting on Saturday at The Metropolitan Tower downtown on Saturday from 11am – 3pm and one of the kick ass parties at night during the week.

See everyone out at the Rochester Cocktail Revival next week!
