F.A.T. Podcast Episode 95 – Fruition Seeds

On this episode of the Food About Town podcast, Petra Page-Mann from Fruition Seeds came over to the studio to talk about some of the amazing work Fruition is doing out in Naples to develop and maintain the seeds that make food work in our area. I took a trip out during the summer to check out the farm and recently had Petra up to Rochester to hang out and record a wide ranging podcast.

This is the eighth episode of my goal to release a new episode every week of 2018. I did miss last week but I’ll be doubling up next week to make up for it. Have some great episodes coming up! Please let people know about the podcast and I’ll keep churning out new episodes every week!

This episode is brought to you by Phrankly. Phrankly is working to make sourcing and distribution for restaurants, farms and specialty goods more transparent and change the way people find their food.

Some exciting national news involving one of the partners in Fruition Seeds came out this week. Row 7 Seeds popped on the scene featuring a collaboration between James Beard award winning chef Dan Barber from Blue Hill and Blue Hill at Stone Barn, Michael Mazourek an associate Professor from Cornell and Matthew Goldfarb from Fruition. Their most notable creation so far is a new squash called a Honeynut that optimizes the flavor of a Butternut squash. Keep an eye on what they’re creating over there. This could be a huge movement when it comes to growing flavorful vegetables right here in Upstate NY.

Also keep an eye on the new garden club Petra is starting called Flourish. If you need help learning how to make the seeds work for you. Take a look at their intro video and see if it is for you!

If you enjoyed this episode please share this on social media or leave a review for the podcast on iTunes or Google Play. You can now also check it out on Stitcher if that suits you better!

Thanks!
