On this episode of the Food About Town podcast, Collin McConville from Apple Country Spirits came over to the studio to tell us about the new 5 year aged Applejack and taste test both the 2 year and 5 year versions along side some more experimental products he is working on.
This is the first episode of 2018 and my resolution is to put out a new podcast every week this year. My goal is to release one every Tuesday morning for your listening pleasure. Hope everyone had a Happy New Year and I’m looking forward to another great year of podcasting!
This episode is brought to you by Phrankly. Phrankly is working to make sourcing and distribution for restaurants, farms and specialty goods more transparent and change the way people find their food.
Collin and I went through how he ended up working for Apple Country Spirits and how working with fruit is a true traditional craft here in upstate New York. I was excited to learn about how Collin models the various brandies he makes after traditional European styles. We also talked about some of the other places around the Williamson area and he reminded us that it is only a short drive from the city and we should all come out and visit!
[powerpress]Make sure to go visit the tasting room at Apple Country Spirits in Williamson to check out what they have on the shelves and to get a taste for yourself. Not only do they have the base spirits and cocktails made with them, they also have Rootstock ciders (made in house) available for those that don’t venture toward the harder side of things. Check them out on social media on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
